ALEX HOFFMAN
Alex Hoffman is an experienced Solicitor who graduated from the University of Limerick in 2003 with a Bachelor of Laws Degree in Law & European Studies. He qualified as a Solicitor in 2006 and was admitted to the Law Society’s Roll of Solicitors in the Hilary Term of the following year. He subsequently studied with the Irish Taxation Institute and qualified as an AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) in 2010.
Alex specialises in several areas of law including Commercial Property, Banking & Finance, Landlord & Tenant, Corporate/Commercial and Insolvency & Restructuring. He also has considerable experience in the areas of Agricultural Law, Probate & the Administration of Estates, Taxation, as well as Residential Conveyancing.
Before joining Pierse McCarthy Lucey Solicitors LLP in September 2018, Alex spent 17 years with P.J. O’Driscoll & Sons, Solicitors in Cork City for 17 years, where he gained extensive experience across the firm’s commercial & residential property, commercial/corporate, and banking/finance departments. During this time, he worked with a diverse range of clients including prominent commercial property developers, financial institutions, insolvency practitioners and private & corporate clients.
In addition to his legal practice Alex has also contributed to the education of future lawyers, having tutored students at the Law Society of Ireland in the area of business law, covering topics such as company formations, shareholders and subscription agreements, franchising and distribution agreements, agency, competition law, alternative dispute resolution, and share/assets sales.
Outside of his professional career, Alex is actively involved at diocesan and national level in the Church of Ireland and was appointed as Chancellor of the dioceses of Tuam, Limerick & Killaloe, as well as a lay Judge of the Court of the General Synod, in 2024. His sporting interests include rugby, cycling and hillwalking and he is the current treasurer of Tralee Parnells Hurling & Camogie Club.
