Katie McCarthy, Solicitor and Partner, graduated from University College Dublin in 1987 with a Bachelor of Civil Law and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1991. Following qualification, she worked in Brussels on a contract with the European Commission, gaining valuable international legal experience.

On returning to Ireland, Katie joined Hughes & MacEvilly Solicitors in Cork, where she practised from 1992 to 1996. During this period, she advised and represented a range of insurance companies, public bodies, and private clients across a broad spectrum of legal matters. She also lectured in law at the College of Commerce, Cork.

In 1996, Katie returned to her native Kerry and has been a Partner at Pierse McCarthy Lucey Solicitors LLP since that time. She has extensive litigation experience at all court levels. Her principal areas of practice include family law; claimant and defence work in accident and personal injury claims; and disputes relating to contracts and property. She also advises on wills, probate and the administration of estates, conveyancing, and matters affecting older persons.

Katie provides legal advice to private clients, clubs, and voluntary organisations. She regularly delivers presentations to local groups on a wide range of legal topics, including wills and the Nursing Home Support Scheme.

She holds several voluntary roles, including acting as a parish representative for the Parish of Our Lady & St Brendan’s, Tralee, in the implementation of child protection guidelines, and serving on a local school Board of Management. Katie completed mediation training and qualified as a certified Mediator in 2011, a skill which complements her legal practice. Outside of work, she enjoys the outdoors, particularly walks and sea swimming.
